Uganda Airlines reported an alarming loss of UGX 237 billion in 2024, an amount that speaks volumes about the careless and mismanaged governance that has defined despot Museveni’s administration and his minions.
This failure is not just about bad luck or market forces—it is the result of corruption and nepotism whereby unqualified individuals are placed in critical positions, a hallmark of Museveni’s 40-year reign.
In August 2022, it was revealed that Jennifer Bamuturaki, the Uganda Airlines CEO, lacked the academic qualifications required for the job. Who Jennifer really is to this criminal despotic dying dictator is a topic for another day.
Appointed through their obvious mafia manipulations rather than merit, Bamuturaki neither possessed the mandated postgraduate degree nor the experience of leading any reputable airline.
Instead, she held a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Social Administration and relied on the online IATA certificates as justification.
Yet, Museveni’s government endorsed her appointment, prioritizing cronyism over competence.
Earlier in February 2022, the airline faced chaos when Cornwell Muleya and other senior managers were sacked amidst allegations of financial mismanagement and nepotism. This was nothing but an excuse to eliminate them from the airline industry.
Their suspension, paired with Museveni’s inability to enforce accountability, cost the airline UGX 2.3 billion in unnecessary salary payments during a seven-month vacuum in leadership.
As if this was not bad enough, in February 2024, operational disruptions caused by a shortage of qualified pilots further crippled the airline.
Uganda Airlines was forced to cut flights, underscoring the neglect in planning and talent development—a failure directly tied to Museveni’s unwillingness to focus on strategic leadership.
This is not just a Uganda Airlines problem; it is a Museveni problem. The president’s selfishness explains his approach to governance and his preference for appointing loyalists over qualified professionals has left the airline and the country in financial disarray.
As Ugandans, we are tired of criminal Museveni and his mafia gangs who are deliberately destroying our country.
