Regional destabiliser, power-hungry despot Gen Tibuhaburwa Kagutema alias “Museveni” on Saturday, 7 March 2026, assumed the Chairmanship of the East African Community (EAC) from Kenya’s President William Ruto.

The EAC is once again at a crossroads, with Western-groomed, nurtured, and protected tyrant Museveni now at its helm, despite his long-standing role in the socio-political and security crises that have ravaged the bloc for years.

In his lengthy and disoriented speech, senile Museveni did not miss the opportunity to repeat his familiar and empty rhetoric about promoting an “EAC Federation” in both political and economic spheres. However, believing such rhetoric comes at one’s own peril.

The ruthless tyrant simply preaches wine while drinking crude waragi in the evening. For decades, he has been at the centre of trade wars with neighbouring countries and has never ceased meddling in their diplomatic affairs.

Moreover, it should be recalled that the self-proclaimed Gen. Kagutema has been at the heart of civil conflicts and Western-backed insurgencies that have destabilised parts of the region, most notably in Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, claiming millions of innocent civilians especially women and children.

This notorious agent of neo-imperial interests should not be allowed to deceive anyone, particularly within the EAC. He cannot credibly preach regional integration and cooperation while simultaneously undermining the very stability required for such collaboration.

Bloodthirsty Museveni, who has reduced our country, Uganda to a mere banana republic by suppressing democratic processes and impoverishing citizens, has nothing to offer the region. The people of the EAC should therefore tread carefully, as his leadership risks further undermining regional trust.

The East African Community deserves better. With Museveni at its helm, the bloc faces a moment that should awaken serious concern among all those who care about its future.
