Forty years down the road, four decades of one man clinging to power while most generations of Ugandans have never seen a peaceful transfer of leadership.

Power-hungry Octogenarian Museveni’s slogans about “protecting the gains” mask a brutal truth: repression, corruption, nepotism, indecency, human rights violations and stifling of freedom.

He talks of middle-income ambitions, coffee, cotton and oil—but behind the rhetoric lies a legacy measured not in progress, but in crushed opposition, arbitrary arrests, brutal abductions, extrajudicial killings, illegal detentions and torture all in order to create a climate of fear.

Youth, who make up the majority of the population, face a system that denies them real opportunities while enriching a select few. Political dissent is silenced, human rights violated, as hope deliberately and systematically suppressed.

Before 2021 alone, security forces killed over 1500 protestors responding to Bobi Wine’s arrest. Today, thousands remain imprisoned, the whereabouts of our Comrade remain unknown and even peaceful demonstrations are met with lethal force.

Bloodthirsty criminal Museveni has turned governance into a dynastic regime, turning our country, Uganda into his personal kingdom.

Forty years is not experience—it is dictatorship. It is not stability—it is intimidation and fear combined.

We must stand united and determined to end the reign of an octogenarian whose age has outlasted his vision, whose tenure has outlived justice, his physical and mental faculties incapacitated yet his ambition threatens the future of an entire nation.

Our country, Uganda deserves much better than tyranny, it’s time to reclaim our identity.
