Uganda’s habitual mafia, conman and serial electoral thief, Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Kagutema, a.k.a. Museveni, is growing increasingly weary and desperate ahead of next year’s general elections in which we, as Ugandans are poised to democratically dismantle his four-decade-long junta by voting him out.

For instance, over the past weekend, this power-hungry tyrant paid off hundreds of Kampala’s well known street goons and bandits to gather at NRM headquarters as he picked up nomination forms, hiring them to come up with staged manifestation pretending to be his staunch supporters.

This desperate spectacle aimed to deceive both local and international observers into believing that Museveni remains Uganda’s “favourite” candidate.
The most interesting part is that the aging treacherous mafia in Museveni ended up deceiving himself.

The charade quickly backfired on the ageing tyrant and his junta’s sycophants. The hired goons, disgruntled after not receiving the promised payments, turned on the city, assaulting bystanders, looting shops, robbing and raping innocent citizens in broad daylight.

This debacle came on the heels of yet another scandal, in which Museveni was caught red-handed orchestrating the fraudulent registration of Kenyan and Congolese nationals from the border areas as NRM members, with the intent of using them as ghost voters in the upcoming general elections.

The scheme was exposed in early May this year when foreign recruits, clearly non-Ugandans, turned up to participate in NRM village-level elections in multiple areas near the borders with Kenya and the DRC. They were shamelessly registered as legitimate party members, fully prepared to cast votes for Museveni in the presidential election.

Hiring goons to pose as supporters and smuggling foreigners to rig the vote are all desperate tactics from a regime well aware that Ugandans have already given Museveni and his NRM a red card.

Since seizing power in 1986, this greedy dictator has never won any free or fair election. His illegitimate forever hold on power has been maintained through coercion, militarism and the systematic erosion of political freedoms.

Power-hungry criminal Museveni is indeed, flogging a dead horse. His downfall is imminent and evidently, it’s just of time.
