On February 6, we marked the 44th Tarehe Sita anniversary at Kasasa playgrounds, Kyotera District—a platform Despot Yoweri Museveni once again used to spew his usual lies and propaganda. Here are just a few of the fabrications he shamelessly peddled:

1) The fake COVID-19 cure

Museveni boldly lied that Uganda has manufactured a cure for COVID-19—an outright hoax. The process of developing a legitimate cure is highly complex, scientifically rigorous, and requires WHO certification—something Uganda is nowhere near achieving. To make his lie even more absurd, he claimed he would ask his family’s permission to sell some cows to reward the so-called “scientists” behind this imaginary cure. We all know this will never happen. This is just another of his recycled falsehoods.

2) The false peace narrative

Museveni claimed Uganda is peaceful—a blatant distortion of reality. In a country where citizens live in fear, where arbitrary arrests are the norm, where bomb scares and street murders are frequent, only a delusional dictator could call this peace.

3) His “strong” army—built on corruption

He boasted about building a strong army and institutions, but what has he really built? A system crippled by corruption and nepotism. What kind of leader appoints his illiterate wife as Minister of Education? His so-called “army” is nothing more than a personal militia, designed to keep him in power rather than protect Ugandans.

4) The lost cause of Tarehe Sita

Museveni absurdly claimed that the NRA was founded on “philosophical, ideological, and strategic principles.” We all know this is a joke. The NRA’s true mission has always been power consolidation, oppression, and looting national resources.

5) False promises on economic growth

Museveni declared that after June 2025, Uganda’s economy will grow at 7.3%—without oil. Where is the proof? With skyrocketing prices, joblessness, and economic hardship, this is just another empty promise.

6) The oil mirage

He lied again, claiming that with oil, Uganda’s economy will grow at double-digit rates. But where is this oil? He’s been singing about it for years, yet Ugandans remain poor while his cronies thrive.

7) The ghost car assembly in Jinja

Museveni claimed that children in Jinja are assembling cars—yet nobody has seen these so-called cars. Another empty lie to create a false sense of progress.

For nearly 40 years, Museveni has ruled Uganda through deception, repression, and manipulation. His latest Tarehe Sita speech was no different—just another desperate attempt to clutch onto power by lying to Ugandans. But the people see through his falsehoods, and the truth cannot be hidden forever.

The good news is that soon Museveni will be gone and forgotten. Ugandans are now ready to enjoy their freedom and true democracy.
