There is growing outrage in Greater Luwero as unemployed, starving, and long-oppressed citizens alongside local leaders protest the visit of the power-hungry dictator Yoseri Tibuhaburwa alias Museveni, who has deliberately plunged the region into abject poverty.

This, despite their historic and unreserved support during his rebellion, which brought him to power and the eventual life reign.

Residents and their leaders have taken their outcry to the media expressing their dissatisfaction with Museveni’s visit, which they view as a manipulative political maneuver aimed at garnering votes ahead of the 2026 elections under the guise of promoting his latest useless propaganda scheme, the so-called “Parish Development Model (PDM).”

According to local voices, Museveni is not only unwelcome but also unacceptable, undesired in the region. His visit is being seen as an extravagant waste of national resources and a desperate attempt to woo voters who have long discarded him in protest over the empty promises he made over the past 40 years, after these gallant citizens helped him seize power.

It’s worth recalling that the people of Luwero once opened their homes to Museveni, sold their possessions, sacrificed their lives and took up arms to support his quest for leadership. In return, they have been cast aside and left to suffer.

Today, the region grapples with extreme poverty, with thousands starving daily and many fleeing in search for food and other basic necessities. Four decades later, Luwero still endures dilapidated infrastructure, poor healthcare, substandard schools, and a lack of basic services, despite having ushered Museveni into power.

Criminal Museveni’s rejection in Luwero is evident in electoral results: during the 2021 general elections, he secured only 41,166 votes (27.94%) in the district, while opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi (NUP) won a landslide 103,782 votes (70.45%).

To the people of Luwero, power-hungry dude- Museveni is no longer welcome. His presence is a painful reminder of betrayal, selfishness and unfulfilled promises.
