On February 6, 2025, Ugandans will mark 44 years of relentless suffering, extrajudicial killings, and lawlessness—consequences of the bush war initiated by Criminal Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Museveni, who lured rebels and civilians into fighting against the then-legitimate regime.

Four years later, the ruthless tyrant seized power and wasted no time revealing his true colours. He systematically eliminated nearly all his former comrades-in-arms (banansiko) and anyone who had supported his insatiable hunger for power, ensuring that he could rule indefinitely.

These men and women had pledged allegiance to Museveni’s cause, trusting him—much like trusting a hyena. They served his junta unreservedly, committing countless human rights violations in his favour, only to be discarded when they became inconvenient.

Among those whom Museveni viewed as threats and ultimately eliminated were Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, Gen. James Kazini, Maj. Gen. Kasiirye Ggwanga, Gen. Elly Tumwine, Captain William Mwesigwa (a.k.a Black), Gen. Benon Biraro, Brig. Taddeo Kanyankore, and Gen. Serwanga Lwanga, to name just a few.

Those banansiko who remain alive today find themselves trapped in an open prison, forced to kneel before the octogenarian despot to secure their survival and that of their families.

Beyond betraying, undermining, and killing his NRA/UPDF comrades, Museveni has also gone to great lengths to silence civilians—targeting those of all ages who have dared to oppose his brutal rule. This is not just history; it is a daily reality in Uganda under his regime.

February 6 will forever be remembered as a cursed day—the day Criminal Museveni transformed the Pearl of Africa into a brutal junta state. Now, he clings to power with no intention of leaving the State House unless it is in a coffin.

Ugandans must reject the regime’s propaganda that glorifies this day and instead recommit to the struggle against Museveni’s tyranny. Enough is enough!
