Narcissistic despot Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Museveni Kagutema has resorted to lamenting and shedding crocodile tears after suffering a long-anticipated and humiliating defeat in the recently concluded Kawempe North parliamentary by-election, which the opposition party, NUP, won by a landslide.
In a shocking turn of events, Museveni has accused the opposition of “rigging” and orchestrating various electoral malpractices that allegedly led to the downfall of his crumbling NRM. A bad workman blames his tools!
The ageing and embattled autocrat made these claims without presenting a shred of evidence—this, despite being the very mastermind behind election violence and irregularities. He deployed his notorious JAT force to brutalize opposition supporters and journalists in an attempt to rig the election unhindered, yet his tactics failed miserably.

Notably, none of Museveni’s security forces have been held accountable for the violence and human rights violations committed during the by-election. Instead, Museveni himself has shamelessly defended their terror tactics.
Impetus behind Museveni’s manoeuvres
Fully aware that long-oppressed Ugandans have rejected him, Museveni’s actions surrounding the Kawempe North by-election are premeditated. The ruthless despot is desperately attempting to replicate this strategy in the upcoming elections.
His current state of lamentation and theatrics is yet another distraction—an attempt to deceive Ugandans who continue to demand accountability for heinous crimes such as extrajudicial killings and assaults against bystanders, opposition figures, and the media.
Since seizing power at gunpoint in 1986, the octogenarian tyrant has never won a truly democratic election—his grip on power has always depended on electoral fraud and manipulation.
Now, more than ever, it is evident: Museveni’s days in State House are numbered—whether he accepts it or not. Watch this space!
