For the first time in Uganda’s history, members of parliament from the ruling NRM have stepped out of their comfort zones to condemn crimes against humanity that their bloody criminal master, Yoseri Tibubuhaburwa Museveni Kagutema, continues to commit in a desperate bid to cling to power. This unprecedented defiance shows that the aging despot autocrat’s days in State House are certainly numbered.
During ongoing parliamentary debates on Museveni’s state-sponsored violence and political vendetta—particularly the brutality that marred electoral campaigns in the Kawempe North by-election—NRM MPs took seats alongside the opposition to denounce the notorious Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force (JAT), which operates under Museveni’s direct command for his selfish political ambitions.
“The community is bleeding! Why have we decided to militarize a civilian process? What are we afraid of? Why are we turning elections into a battlefield? Do we want to plunge this country into anarchy?” questioned an outraged Obiga Kania, the NRM MP for Terego East County.
Other NRM legislators, including Okiror Bosco and Agasha Juliet Bashiisha, openly admitted that the power-hungry tyrant- Museveni’s regime they have long served and supported is undeniably on the verge of its collapse. Their reasoning is simple: the citizens have lost faith in Museveni and are yearning for change.
Beyond parliament, the recently concluded NRM caucus also ruled against the militarization of elections. Meanwhile, Museveni, seemingly aware of his dwindling grip on power, continues to rely on excessive use of force and intimidation as his last-ditch effort to coerce the long-oppressed Ugandan populace into submission.
What does this mean?
The growing rift between Museveni and his former allies signals his imminent downfall. As the embattled dictator becomes increasingly isolated, removing him from power will soon become easier as it is inevitable.
Like his Sudanese friend Omar al-Bashir, Museveni will soon come face to face with the same fate—held accountable for crimes against humanity and other serious offenses he has consistently committed against unarmed, innocent Ugandans in broad daylight.
To NRM Bigwigs: Join the millions of Ugandans rising up to liberate this bleeding nation. The time for change is now!
