Uganda is on the brink of a historic shift. The decades-long grip of despot Yoseri Tibuhaburwa, whose tenure has transformed from promise to collapse and betrayal, is finally being challenged.

For too long, Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Rutabasiirwa aka Museveni and his regime have clung to power, suffocating democracy, looting resources, and silencing dissent. The time has come to take back our country from the clutches of this autocratic dynasty.

Once hailed as a liberator, Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Rutabasiirwa aka Museveni has turned into the very tyrant he vowed to overthrow. The removal of term limits in 2005 marked the beginning of his quest for life-long rule—a blatant betrayal of the people’s trust. His so-called “multiparty democracy” has been nothing more than a façade, designed to tighten his grip on power while dismantling genuine political competition.

For nearly 40 years of misrule by Museveni, Uganda has become a textbook kleptocracy. Corruption festers at every level, while the wealth of the nation is funneled into the pockets of a select few family members and loyalists to the regime. Public institutions, once meant to serve the people, have been weaponized to serve Museveni’s personal interests. His reliance on military power and patronage has turned Uganda into a police state, where freedom of speech, assembly, and expression are luxuries few can afford.

The youth, who make up the majority of Uganda’s population, are tired of being silenced. They are tired of unemployment, torture, poverty, and a future stolen by a regime that prioritizes its survival over the welfare of the people.

Museveni’s obsession with clinging to power has cost Uganda decades of progress, and his family’s increasing dominance in state affairs is a clear sign of his desire to turn Uganda into a monarchy.

The 2026 elections must not be business as usual. Museveni’s time is up, and Ugandans must rise to reclaim their nation. This is a call to every Ugandan—young and old, rural and urban, at home and abroad: the fight for freedom is not over. The end of this despot’s rule is not just a dream—it is an inevitability.

The world is watching. Ugandans are awakening. The days of Museveni’s dictatorship are numbered. Let us unite, resist, and dethrone this regime for the sake of our children and the generations to come.
Uganda deserves better. And we, the people, will make it happen.
