Criminal despot Gen Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Kagutema a.k.a M7?has once again proven to be the mastermind behind violence and heinous crimes committed against civilians in large-scale attacks, following his recent illegal deployment of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to South Sudan.
South Sudan continues to bleed as innocent civilians, particularly those from the Upper Nile and Jonglei States, mourn the deaths of their loved ones, who are being killed through shelling, bombings, chemical weaponry and airstrikes carried out by Museveni’s forces.
While South Sudan is embroiled in civil war, Museveni, driven by vendetta, has chosen to meddle by propping up President Salva Kiir. In doing so, he unilaterally deployed thousands of Ugandan soldiers without seeking parliamentary approval.
Moreover, Museveni’s warmongering intervention in South Sudan constitutes serious violations of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan, as well as the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities, Protection of Civilians, and Humanitarian Access (COHA).
As if that is not enough, the UPDF entered South Sudan fully equipped with armored units and air force support, in direct violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2428, which imposed an arms embargo on South Sudan.
Meanwhile, this military deployment continues to expand at the expense of Ugandan taxpayers. Yet, ordinary Ugandans stand to gain nothing from a war that serves only to further Museveni’s personal interests.
It is worth recalling that Museveni—the region’s chief destabilizer—has been at the centre of conflicts that have plunged the entire region into turmoil. He remains a loyal agent of imperialist forces working relentlessly to divide Africa.
For instance, in Sudan, Museveni played a treacherous role in the 2005 death of John Garang, the leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA). Garang’s death, staged as a helicopter crash, further deepened divisions among South Sudanese.
The time is now-Museveni must be held accountable for his crimes and stand trial for these atrocities!
