Desperate, greedy, and power-hungry dictator Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Kagutema a.k.a Museveni has shamelessly admitted to disbursing billions of taxpayer shillings to bribe each Member of Parliament with Shs 100 million in cash.

For days now, the media has been awash with reports and heated debates surrounding this scandalous act of bribery. Millions of unemployed and financially struggling Ugandans, especially the youth, have expressed outrage, lamenting that if such funds had been invested in meaningful development, their lives would be significantly improved.

In a lengthy open letter posted on his official X account on Friday, the aging dictator unabashedly confirmed the bribe, attempting to justify it by claiming that the opposition, too, receives “foreign funds… to influence our politics in favor of foreigners.” Pathetic!

Not stopping there, the self-declared Thief-in-Chief went further to threaten the opposition for its democratic efforts to expose his corruption, accusing them of serving foreign interests, ironically, the very thing he’s often doing for his own political survival.

Now, the question on every concerned Ugandan’s mind is: what next? Bribery is a criminal offense under our Penal Code. Will the judiciary rise to the occasion and take a stand, or will it remain silent in the face of such blatant abuse of power?

Corruption is the very air Museveni breathes and the lifeblood running through his regime. It is no secret that this long-serving autocrat relies on corruption to sustain his rule.

Let’s not forget: in 2017, Museveni himself received a $500,000 bribe from Chinese national Patrick Ho in exchange for business favors in Uganda. Ho was later convicted on corruption charges in a U.S. court.

Also in 2017, Museveni disbursed $3.5 million to MPs in a desperate move to abolish the presidential age limit from the constitution, yet another example of his habitual use of public funds to manipulate the political system.

Now, in a state of panic, Museveni, who once vowed to leave State House in a coffin, is surrounding himself with blindly loyal cronies, including the very MPs he just bribed, to help him cling to power at all costs.

Criminal Museveni must go!
