This 36th so called “Heroes Day”anniversary, is a moment that should inspire Ugandans to recommit to ending Gen Museveni’s decades-long tyranny.
It is both ironic and tragic that on a day meant to honour national heroes, an unrepentant regime led by an old tired goon who has systematically betrayed the very ideals they claimed to fight for.
By insulting our heroes, criminal Museveni, driven by an insatiable thirst for power, prioritises personal gratification over national interest.
He clings to power not to serve the people, but to enrich himself and secure a future solely for his children and grandchildren, as he has publicly stated on multiple occasions.
Contrary to the hollow rhetoric that paints him as a national hero, power-hungry tyrant Museveni, who lured rebels and civilians into a bloody struggle against the then-legitimate government over 40 years ago;
He has spent all these years since seizing power to build an oppressive regime/empire deeply rooted in persecution, fear and intimidation.
Criminal Museveni’s rule has devolved into a kleptocracy, with state institutions, especially the army and security forces, reduced to a mercenary system that enforces his will and silences dissent through extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances, illegal arrests and arbitrary detention, torture in dungeons.
This octogenarian tyrant has long lost any legitimacy. Ugandans have continuously rejected him at the ballot box, yet he survives politically only by trampling on the fundamental principles of democracy, rigging elections in broad daylight and imposing his rule through brute force.
Perhaps most revealing was Museveni’s own recent admission in June 2024, when he acknowledged, “One day, when they [Ugandans] get a chance, they will avenge you.” He understands the magnitude of the discontent simmering beneath the surface, a reflection of the danger he fears from a population long wronged.
As long as criminal Museveni remains in power illegally, Heroes Day will not be a day of pride, but a solemn reminder of the betrayal of Uganda’s founding ideals. It will remain a day to recommit to the struggle against a brutal junta that has deliberately destroyed our country, Uganda 🇺🇬 and turned the “Pearl of Africa” into another banana republic.
Museveni must go,
Enough is Enough!
