As we edge toward another critical election, the signs are unmistakable — this is not a contest of ideas, but a calculated operation to retain power for life at all costs.

Dictator Museveni, in power for four decades, is once again moving to control the narrative, silence dissent, and rig the political environment in our country, Uganda before the citizens even reach the ballot box.

The latest move says everything: tightening restrictions on independent internet access just weeks before voting day.

This is not about regulation.
This is about information control. When a government fears open communication, it’s because truth is its greatest enemy.

Restricting access to alternative internet services is a familiar playbook — one designed to ensure that when abuses occur, they happen in the dark, unrecorded, unshared and unchallenged.

Ugandans have seen similar movies before. During past elections, the regime shut down the internet, blocked social media and sealed off digital spaces where citizens documented violent abductions, extrajudicial killings, brutal torture, intimidation and electoral fraud.

The result? A fabricated and stage-managed calm presented to the international community as deception while fear and brutality reigned on the ground.

Now, the groundwork is being laid again.

🔴 Why this matters:

Control the internet → control what the world sees.

Control the narrative → control the outcome.

Silence citizens → steal legitimacy.

This is the behavior of a ruthless ruler who knows that he cannot win a free and fair election.

Museveni dismantled constitutional safeguards, scrapping term and age limits to rule indefinitely. Opposition figures are harassed, arrested, beaten, tortured, blocked or killed in broad-daylight.

Journalists operate under threat. Civil society is suffocated. And now, even digital lifelines are being targeted — all in order to ensure that when the inevitable repression comes, no one can livestream it.

Let’s call this what it is:

⚠️ Premeditated authoritarianism

⚠️ Election rigging and manipulation before voting even begins

⚠️ Criminal Museveni is afraid of the people

🛑 To the international community: Silence will not mean stability. It will mean complicity.

🛑 To observers and diplomats: An election without free communication is not an election — it’s theatre.

🛑 To the world: Our country, Uganda is not quiet. Ugandans are being muted.

📢 Raise the alarm now — not after the damage is done.

Democracy does not die in one day. It is strangled slowly, deliberately and in plain sight.
