In an unusual turn of events, Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) Chairperson Mariam Fauzat Wangadya has strongly condemned criminal despot Museveni’s maneuvers to weaken the very institution mandated to protect the rights of Ugandans.

The outspoken Wangadya made the remarks during an interview with BBS TV on Friday, July 3, 2026, and bravely let the cat out of the bag regarding how Museveni has consistently appointed inept and incompetent commissioners to the Commission.

“Mr. President, I must express my dissatisfaction with how you treat the Uganda Human Rights Commission. You show it no respect,” Wangadya said.

She went on to openly declare that the power-hungry despot Museveni has turned the Commission into a dumping ground for political failures by appointing people who are unqualified to serve and are merely seeking political survival.

It is a deliberate strategy, as criminal Museveni seeks to cripple the UHRC’s constitutional mandate as the custodian of human rights protection.

This is happening at a critical moment when Museveni’s crumbling junta has invested heavily in suppressing dissenting voices through abductions, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the muzzling of the free press.

Beyond the UHRC, Museveni has strategically and deliberately weakened state institutions including Parliament, the judiciary, and the executive to shield himself from accountability.

Uganda needs more leaders like Wangadya who call a spade a spade and openly condemn criminal Museveni’s conspiracies, double standards, and systematic assault on democratic institutions.
