In an unusual turn of events, on May 24, 2025, foreign tyrant Gen. Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Kagutema “Museveni” and his recently deceased co-president, Janet “Maama Elephantiasis”, apologized to the people of Buganda and Uganda as a whole for the egregious crimes the two tyrants had committed since capturing power in 1986.
This charade unfolded during the conclusion of a five-day spiritual gathering hosted by criminal Museveni’s daughter, the self-proclaimed “Pastor” Patience Rwabwogo, who heads Covenant Nations Church, a notorious Museveni front for deceitful propaganda.
In a scene that was not only disgusting but also too dramatically staged, the senile tyrants delivered a joint public apology and confessed to their failures in governance, rampant corruption, and the systematic alienation of citizens, especially within Buganda.
“As the top leaders of the movement [NRM], we humbly take responsibility for all the mistakes made by ourselves, our agents, and our representatives. Therefore, I stand here to repent and ask for your forgiveness, especially from the people of Buganda and the whole country,” Museveni and his wife, who died in March 2026, jointly read in their public apology.
They added:“God, restore the favor that we had with them (the people) in the beginning; bring healing to their hearts, soften hardened hearts, and reconnect us to the original vision of our national unity and unwavering commitment to the social and economic transformation of our nation.”
A year down the road, it became clear that the Musevenis had staged this charade as a strategy to buy more time in office. They were merely paving the way to steal yet another term, which they subsequently managed to do in the January 2026 general elections at the expense of many innocent lives.
Those sham elections were accompanied by bloodshed, especially among the very Baganda whom the Musevenis had deceived with their fake and empty apology. Today, the status quo remains unchanged, and the ordeal of the Baganda continues unabated.
For instance, Erias Lukwago Ssalongo, the former Lord Mayor of Kampala, is one of the vocal Baganda currently facing persecution despite the Musevenis’ apology. The outspoken lawyer, who serves as lead counsel for political prisoner Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye, was this week abducted and subjected to mental, psychological, and physical torture.
As if that were not enough, Museveni framed Lukwago with a bogus charge of misprision of treason and remanded him to Luzira Prison until June 22, 2026.
Besides Lukwago, thousands of Baganda, especially young opposition supporters, are presently suffering in the Musevenis’ torture chambers.
Meanwhile, the relentless witch-hunt against these Ugandans, whom the tyrants brand as “enemies” of their rule, continues unabated.
It is worth recalling with concern, that the Musevenis came to power in 1986 after bloodshed through a five-year guerrilla war. The war was fought mainly in Buganda, where the kingdom and its people played a vital role in Museveni’s victory. Buganda supported Museveni in every possible way to ensure his capture of power.
Even before 1986, Museveni was in the circles of power during Obote II and it is on record that he manipulatively exploited Baganda among other tribes to follow his misleading selfish agenda.
Nonetheless, driven by his usual primitivity, criminality and selfishness, the foreign tyrant Museveni has decided to reward all Baganda by persecuting them and treating them as his greatest enemies. Yet today, he desperately claims to be on a mission to regain their hearts.
Museveni’s time is over and no amount of manipulative schemes, including this hypocritical apology, can prevent the inevitable downfall of the Musevenis.
